Mr.  Robinson practices primarily in the areas of corporate, commercial, intellectual property and estate litigation. He routinely acts for businesses in the financial services, construction, and real estate development industries. Mr. Robinson has significant experience resolving shareholder and joint venturer disputes, as well as complex contractual claims, patent lawsuits and multi-party tort cases.

Mr. Robinson frequently handles claims for equitable remedies, including those based on fiduciary duties, trust, and fraud. Mr. Robinson also regularly advises clients on intellectual property matters, with particular experience addressing patent infringement claims in forestry, oilfield, and transportation industries.

Mr. Robinson’s familiarity with business disputes provides an important advantage to his estate clients. He is quick to understand the dynamics of complex, closely-held enterprises, which helps his clients position themselves for success in settlement and, if necessary, court.

Mr. Robinson also has particular expertise dealing with intellectual property disputes. As a patent and trademark agent in both Canada and the United States, who also holds a Masters degree in Applied Science (Electrical Engineering), Mr. Robinson has a firm grasp of both intellectual property law and technical issues. In qualifying as a Canadian patent agent, he won both prizes awarded in 2010 Patent Agent Examinations, namely the J. Edward Maybee prize for highest overall mark and the Marie F. Morency Memorial prize for highest proficiency in patent drafting.

Mr. Robinson frequently appears before the British Columbia Supreme Court, the Federal Court of Canada and arbitral tribunals. From the time he takes a case through the last day of trial, he advances his clients’ interests through creative, thorough and cost-effective advocacy. At every step, Mr. Robinson takes care to ensure that his clients understand the legal process and fully appreciate the dynamics of their cases.

Mr. Robinson is closely involved in both the legal community and the community at large. He is the President of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, and past chair of its policy and advocacy committee. Mr. Robinson is also a former President of the Kelowna Bar Association and a former vice president of the Central Okanagan Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada.

Before joining Rush Ihas Hardwick LLP, Mr. Robinson practiced at a leading intellectual property law firm and served as a law clerk to judges of the British Columbia Supreme Court.
