Mr. Gershony’s practice is devoted to complex commercial litigation and arbitration.

He handles disputes concerning real estate assets, breaches of contract, shareholder remedies, breach of trust and fiduciary duty, employment matters, and financial fraud and misappropriation.  He also regularly advises clients on disputes in the cannabis industry.  His broad-based practice extends to representing clients in trials, judicial reviews, appeals, mediations, arbitration hearings, and administrative hearings. He is a member of the Bars of British Columbia and New York.

Mr. Gershony’s core strengths are his capacity to quickly understand the core facts and issues behind complex cases, and his ability to clearly articulate strategy and business risk to his clients on an ongoing basis.  Mr. Gershony is always responsive and takes pride in becoming a trusted advisor to his clients. He is a problem solver first and foremost, and excels at crisis management.

Mr. Gershony also offers his services as an arbitrator in commercial disputes throughout British Columbia.

Prior to commencing his practice in British Columbia, Mr. Gershony practiced for four years in the New York office of Shearman & Sterling LLP, a prominent global firm.  In that role, Mr. Gershony appeared before the New York Supreme Court and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and appeared as counsel on briefs before the U.S. Federal Appeals Court and the United States Supreme Court.  Mr. Gershony also served as counsel in major arbitrations under the ICC rules seated in London, U.K. and Paris, France.  In that capacity, Mr. Gershony was a core member of the legal team that won the then-largest arbitration award in history (USD 2.5 billion) in The Dow Chemical Company v. Petrochemical Industries Co. of Kuwait.

Upon returning to British Columbia, Mr. Gershony practiced in Vancouver at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, one of Canada’s preeminent law firms, then relocated his family to the Okanagan, where he continues to provide clients with high-quality representation and advice on a broad range of commercial disputes.

Mr. Gershony currently serves as the President of the Downtown Kelowna Association.  In that role he advocates for the interests of all 1,200+ businesses and commercial property owners in Kelowna’s downtown core.
