Laura completed her articles with Rush Ihas Hardwick and has quickly gained the confidence of clients in the firm’s civil and family law practices. She works closely with senior counsel at Rush to deliver thoughtful, well-considered legal strategy for both small and large clients. She is committed to continuous learning and brings curiosity and professionalism to every file.

Laura has practical experience as lead counsel on small claims and residential tenancy files. She is also experienced at drafting cohabitation and separation agreements, and adept at working with senior counsel on human rights and civil law matters.

Laura earned her J.D. from Thompson Rivers University, where she received the course prize in Animal Law for a mock constitutional decision she wrote on freedom of expression. This achievement reflects her interest in animal advocacy and her academic engagement.

During law school, Laura studied with the university’s legal clinic, where she developed an interest in human rights and employment law through direct client service. Before entering law, she worked as a child and youth worker and spent several years as a yoga instructor in Toronto. These roles shaped her calm, empathetic, and people-focused approach when working with clients.

Her passion for language and culture began during a two-year stay in Medellín, Colombia, which inspired her to learn and master Spanish. She later earned an undergraduate degree specializing in Spanish from Concordia University while living in Montreal, and completed her studies in Madrid, Spain. These experiences gave her a strong foundation in intercultural communication, an asset in her work with diverse clients and legal issues.

Outside of her legal work, Laura remains engaged in animal welfare issues and enjoys travel, languages, and connecting across cultures.
